Florida employers go to great lengths to recruit, hire and train the right employees. The cost of managing a workforce can be great and there are many areas in which problems can occur. Disgruntled employees or under-performing employees can cause turmoil among morale and damage business relationships. If cases are severe enough with a particular business dispute between an employee and an employer, legal help may be necessary.
FedEx today is facing an employment law challenge from a former employee who has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the company in an Ohio Circuit Court. It is not known how much money he is seeking as compensation but he is alleging that his employer retaliated against him after taking some time off when his daughter was in the hospital. Unfair working situations were allegedly created for him by his manager between 2010 and 2013, when his employment was terminated.
Examples of the alleged inappropriate actions include the addition of stops as well as route changes that made making stated goals difficult or impossible. The plaintiff also accuses his manager of having disciplined him when he returned from a week off to care for his daughter. He asserts that his basic civil rights were violated. It is not clear whether this employment litigation will be settled out of court or result in a full trial.
The rights of employees are important but so too are the rights of employers. Employer liability defense is a critical thing for companies facing such accusations. Any business representative involved in these cases may want to consult with a lawyer before making any decisions.
