Man facing prospect of more charges over failed business deals

Business deals are made every day in the Miami area as well as many other places. Sometimes these deals go well and other times they don’t. When two or more parties have a business dispute it may take intervention from a judge to settle the matter.

A former doctor is facing the possibility of serious jail-time if he does not fulfill the requirements of a previous court order. According to reports, a Florida Judge is considering the possibility of having more files charged against the man because he has yet to live up to the terms of a $10 million settlement. The man is already facing contempt of court charges and if a prosecutor were to bring additional charges for theft or fraud the man could be sentenced to as much as 30 years behind bars.

The dispute involves several business ventures the man entered into with the Mawardi family. The two parties had agreed to build apartment complexes as well as a casino in the Dominican Republic. However, both parties had a falling out and eventually the doctor agreed to pay the family between $9 million and $10 million to settle the dispute. However, the doctor has yet to comply with agreement and is now facing the possibility of further charges.

Contract disputes are nothing out of the ordinary; however, when big money is involved often there can be a lot of tension and disagreement. When two parties can’t settle their differences together, then most of the time it will be up to a court to determine how things play out. That’s why anyone who is facing any kind of business dispute should probably seek the help of an experienced business litigation attorney.
