Every company, no matter how large or small will have some kind of legal needs. Many times those matters are easy to resolve and simple to overcome. However, there are some business disputes in the Miami area that can lead to legal needs that are much more significant.
A residential homebuilder and a home designer are facing off in court over several home plans that the designer says violated copyright infringement laws. The design company, Hunn Designs, sued a former draftsman with the firm in 2012, as well as a construction business, regarding the completion of several home designs. The former designer left Hunn and opened his own drafting business.
According to Hunn Designs, the drafter and the construction company violated copyright laws by finishing designs that the drafter had started while still employed by Hunn Designs. However, the construction company testified that he made several attempts to pay for the designs in questions, but he never heard back from Hunn Designs. He also claims that the design firm never sent him the invoices he requested, nor did the company cash a check he sent them for payment.
As this case continues it will be interesting to see how the court rules in this matter. Whenever two companies cannot come to an agreement on a contract or other business matter the situation can get heated and wind up in court. Any kind of business or commercial litigation can be complicated as many factors come into play. That is why consulting and/or retaining a business litigation lawyer is probably a good idea.
